Finally: The 2025 Amalgam Ban – A Historic Victory for the Chronically Ill

Dental instruments and mercury - Amalgam ban symbol

The unthinkable is officially law: Since January 1, 2025, the use of dental amalgam as a regular dental filling material has been legally banned in the European Union. For the medical establishment, it is merely an inconspicuous adjustment of the Mercury Regulation. For the VBCI e.V. and countless chronically ill patients, however, it is the official validation of a decades-long struggle against one of the greatest medical dogmas of our time.

The Invisible Saboteur: Mercury

For over 150 years, dental amalgam was mass-cemented into the teeth of unsuspecting patients. The material consists of roughly 50 percent . Although dental associations argued incessantly that the mercury is safely "bound" within the tooth once hardened, the toxicological truth looks drastically different.

Through daily chewing, teeth grinding (bruxism), and the consumption of hot beverages, tiny amounts of mercury vapor continuously evaporate from the filling. This vapor is highly lipophilic (fat-soluble), is inevitably 80% absorbed via the lungs, rapidly crosses the blood-brain barrier, and cumulatively accumulates in the lipid-rich structures of the central nervous system and connective tissue.

The Fatal Connection to Chronic Lyme Disease

Why is this specific issue of such extreme, almost existential importance for Lyme disease patients? Since its inception, the VBCI e.V. has observed a clear, tragic pattern: Patients with the most severe, therapy-resistant chronic Lyme disease overwhelmingly present with massive heavy metal toxicity—primarily caused by amalgam fillings.

Mercury acts in the human body as the ultimate "immune blocker". Once heavy metals infiltrate the cellular terrain, they paralyze (our cellular garbage disposal and first line of defense). Mercury binds rigidly to intracellular sulfur groups, deactivates , and induces devastating systemic oxidative stress.

Symbiosis of Toxin and Pathogen

The Borrelia burgdorferi spirochete expertly recognizes this weakened, toxically altered milieu. Heavy metals actually serve as structural "anchor points" for the slime matrix from which Borrelia weave their biofilms. Bacterial and fungal co-infections (especially Candida albicans) partially bind the toxic metal to themselves, mutating and thus completely evading insufficient antibiotic attacks.

T-Cells and Autoimmunity

Additionally, mercury causes a direct fatal shift in the T-helper cell profile (). The cellular immune response is suppressed, clearing the path for devastating autoimmune processes—where the immune system mistakenly attacks the body's own tissue that has been tagged with metal atoms.

Decades of Defamation and the VBCI's Victory

If a chronically ill, exhausted Lyme patient, plagued by neurological deficits, went to a doctor in the 1990s and 2000s and suggested their 12 amalgam fillings might be weakening their immune system, they were often dismissed as psychiatric cases. The narrative of amalgam's harmlessness was fiercely defended by health insurance companies and dental officials—primarily for trivial cost reasons—while patient suffering grew immeasurably.

"The fact that the EU Parliament has now banned amalgam entirely from 2025 onwards is the late, official vindication for the educational, evidence-based work of environmental physicians and holistic initiatives like the VBCI e.V."

Therapeutic Consequence: What Must Happen Now

The law stops the new installation of the poison, but it does not eliminate the ticking time bombs in the jaws of millions of aging patients. Healing chronic pathogens (Lyme, EBV, Mycoplasma) in severe cases can only occur if the heavy metal blockade is lifted.

This requires a meticulously planned protocol: The removal of amalgam must be performed under strict triple protection (rubber dam, clean-up suction, separate pure air supply) by certified holistic dentists. This must be followed by a biochemically sound and gentle detoxification protocol (, Chlorella, Wild Garlic). Only when the cellular toxic waste is discarded does the battered immune system regain the "air to breathe" needed to finally crush the infectious pathogen alliance through its own recovered strength.
